3.0 si overheating troubleshooting

Post by iksander » Mon Jun 14, 2021 6:20 pm

Hi

Just picked my 07 89k car up from Kwikfit for an MOT. Good news - it passed. Bad news - while the engine was running the "fan stopped" according to the tester then it started overheating and spewing steam an coolant.

I only drive it at weekends so don't sit in traffic or leave it running without air flow from movement.

Thermostat? I know the water pumps are prone on these?

Thanks

As above, water pump is on borrowed time after 70k. It shouldn’t make the cooling fan stop though, when my pump began failing the fan was activated as soon as the car started! Get the codes read.
