After MUCH swearing and the sorest fingertips in Essex, I finally managed to get my SAS sensor apart without having to remove the entire steering column.
And as I expected, the source of my Trifecta orange warning lights is in the pins that rotate inside the connector.
It looks like of them has completely fried!
Any ideas what would have caused this?
I presume the only way to fix is to remove the whole steering column and replace the SAS

You can get replacement sets of wipers from eBay. Not sure if they are exact fitment for the z4 but they sure look compatible and are only a few quid.
Fitting would be a simple if maybe slightly fiddly job of fixing them in place with some epoxy or similar.
