Hi guys.
I've just read that the n20 engine can be prone to the timing chain wearing/ failing at 50k miles on early cars. Anyone know any more about this?. Thanks.

Hello wrong thread you need to re post this in the E89 thread

But yes 50k miles is possible for a blew up

Lack of oil changes and excessive use of the auto stop start are two contributory factors..

There’s a revised cam chain n tensioner fitted in 2015 as a retrofit..

Many thanks for your quick reply. My car is a 2004 2.2 so I have clearly got my e numbers and n numbers confused!!!
It's also non- turbo.
Thanks again.

You have an m54 engine fitted in your e85, it should be virtually bullet proof

Thankyou!!! I suspected you might have the answer- based on my confusion!!!
As you can tell I am new to the zed world. What's your opinion Rob on a 28i with 40k on clock at around £13k??
Thinking of changing next Summer.
