Vanos solenoid code?

Post by Chris_D » Fri Nov 06, 2020 5:50 pm

So this is a new one. Usually do a Carly scan every couple of months and this one popped up today:

0. Motor Control:
<--------------------------->
Engine / Motor:
- Fault: thermal Oelniveausensor
- Code: 0027C3
- Fault: Intake camshaft control Bank 1: Control
- Code: 0027B5

I know about the oil level sensor. It's been busted for years but while I usually suck the oil out on changes it will just have to wait until I have access to a lift to swap in a new one.
The Intake camshaft code however is one I haven't seen before and indication is that it has something to do with the Vanos.
Solenoid on the way out perhaps?

Anyone had this code and rectified it?
I have actually noticed a 'step/hesitation' in the power delivery under hard accelleration occasionally so it kind of resonates with that; solenoid's not actuating all the way maybe.

Thoughts?

You could try cleaning them to see if the code disappears or swapping them to see if the fault moves to the exhaust camshaft?

Good idea Rob.
I cleared the codes but I'll have to wait until tomorrow for a baz around to see if it comes back as I've already consumed a couple of Duvels. hic.

If the code returns i'll swap em around and maybe also clean/lube in the process.
