As per title my e86 has developed an oil leak on the back of the SMG gearbox. My mechanic has isolated the leak to an electrical connector/sensor which enters the back of the gearbox housing itself.
My main issue is where to take it to be repaired? Does anyone have any suggestions around the west midlands? Does anyone have experience of what this is and is it an easy fix?
Thanks

E86? You sure?
The SMG only came on E85 Z4's. And even those are limited to pre-facelift models.

If it's an E86 with flappy paddles on the steering wheel then it has to be an automatic. Does the OP have an E86 Coupe or E85 Roadster ? Can you post a photo of the gear knob and surround in your car ?

In which case I am 99.9% certain your car must have an automatic gearbox. The SMG has the same flappy paddles and only 2 pedals but the gearbox itself is a 6 speed manual with a clutch. The clutch is activated and a gear selected electro-hydraulically when the driver uses the flappy paddles or gear stick.
Plenty of forum members have automatic Z4s so it may be worth editing your post title to 'E86 Auto oil leak via electrical connectors'
