Coupe water pooling at the rear

Morning All,

This is the first car I have ever owned that has water pooling!

Can I ask how you guys deal with water collecting at the rear of the car at the bottom of the rear window on the boot?

Hmm. This is about the only thing I don't like about my car -- bugs the hell out of me.
I take a towel out whenever it stops raining to mop it up, the car cover mostly fixes the problem over winter.

If by 'deal with it' you mean stop it from happening then you can't - either accept that it happens or stop the water from reaching it - e.g. use a car cover or keep it under a carport or even in a garage like I do.

If by 'deal with it' you mean that you've accepted it happens but then what, then I have some simple advice - don't bother with a towel, just lift up the bootlid and keep it fully open for as long as you can be bothered.

Why I hear you ask? Well, the water doesn't just collect ON the the bootlid, it collects IN it too. And this is the reason so many of them rust. Even by keeping my car in the garage and, in the main, not driving it when raining, I still have to bear this in mind every time I wash it.

Try it next time you wash her. Wash her, get her all dry and then lift the bootlid - and water will coming pouring out. Not a lot... but enough.

I was going to ask exactly the same question! Coupe is going back in the garage under cover just as soon as I can get my son’s car back on the road.

Unfortunately I cant put it in the garage, I'm unsure on a car cover, after hearing about rubbing etc.

I was going to give it a good old dry (When/if it stops raining) treat all the glass rubber with some AutoGlym product. Then apply some clear grease on the metal area? or wax the hell out of it?

Do you park on an incline or something?

Just an idea but you could potentially try applying some clear cavity wax in the birdbath.

I too have recently discovered this feature of the Coupe (about 4 weeks into ownership!). My drive is on a slight incline towards the road, and I reverse onto the drive (so, back end of car is lower than the front). I'm wondering if parking forwards onto the drive might be a better idea...

I have a slight slope on my drive and either way it creates a pool. :headbang:

Dinitrol.

Do they do a clear wax? I could only see (quick look) at under body and cavity filler?
I mentioned cavity wax hence the recommendation of Dinitrol. Yes they do a clear cavity wax. In order to apply it you would have to remove the trims and clean off the area, then once it is fully dry, apply the wax to the internal cavities.

However note I am saying this as an idea, not as a concrete fact that it will work.

If you are after a normal wax, (ie to apply to the paint/body of your car) then go with a carnauba based wax, ie SwissVax Blau-Weiss and top up with a synthetic sealant of your choice.

Sadly it's one of the unique features of the Coupe!

I bought my 1st in the summer so it was a while before I noticed it.

I can live with the water, but I find when it's often wet (like now) I seem to get a build-up of what looks like green moss below the rear screen. :(

Sorry, can I get some clarification here? Are you asking because you won't be using it over winter and worried about the pooling, or use it very irregularly? How much do you use it (ie how long would the water be pooling on your car)?

Hi Z4C_er,

I'll probably use it once a weekend over winter just to run it out, but it will be stood outside during the week. Living in Plymouth means it is rain central!

Yes. Not a nice feature. When I can, I apply some wax after a wash to to add some protection.

Normally use Finishkare 1000p. Lasts a good while but for a quick application, I use some basic turtle wax.
