The tiny sensor that reads the roof completetely open is loose, help!!!

Post by mariocaz » Sat Sep 12, 2020 8:51 pm

Hi guys,

I am very happy in the forum, a lot of great information, need again nicel help please.....

The sensor of my Z4 that reads the roof completetely open when you open it is loose and not in its place and I have 2 problems, one is the fear the roof cut the little cables of the sensor (I putted it in a safe place) and the other, the one that bother a lot me is that I have always flashing the red led light of the roof control, because the sensor never reads / knows when the roof is completely open.

I just bought the car so I want to have it almost perfect and want to fix this, the last owner told me the part where have to be located/placed that tiny sensor is broken and little complicated to do the fix or change the part, but dont know if that is true. The sensor is located in the top near the driver door.

Do u know which one is the part that holds that sensor ? and where to buy it ?

Thank you so much in advance!!!!

If you can see where the sensor should be I would suggest you superglue it in place

You basically need to lift that side of the roof out and glue it.
I've done a few but its a complicated process and not easy to describe.

I see you've already discovered this post and the pictures within show exactly where it should sit.
