Roof motor repairs Scotland

Post by Ianam » Mon Jun 29, 2020 1:37 am

Hi. Have begun experiencing problems with my roof not opening fully - it unlatches, but won’t close the last inch or so. Is there anyone in Scotland ( preferably NE Scotland) who other forum members can recommend for roof repairs? Thanks

Have a look at this thread for Durham Daves details, probably nearest for you.

Yep, there's no well known roof specialists in Scotland. Durham Dave will see you right.

Alternatively check out B for BMW in Glasgow but you'll be charged dealer-esque prices

I drove up to Dave for roof motor relocation, few years ago now but he was only charging £80 back then, very good value

Dave is a good guy who doesn't try to rob people and does it for the community. Some others aren't so decent....

Roof motor repairs Scotland

Post by Suilven » Thu Jul 09, 2020 5:25 pm

I have recently had my roof motor pack in. Car sitting outside garage for 3 weeks maybe didn't help. I have with assistance from someone's step by step guide, removed my motor. It was wrapped in a cloth which was sodden. I have dried, cleaned and WD40'd the motor. It works on a 12v supply but after several seconds it starts to run rough. Perhaps because it isn't attached to the system. I am wondering if it is worth getting a new motor and relocating it. £80 sounds reasonable. I am in Falkirk and have a few roof issues. Working on them but if there is someone good, locally, that is great. Not yet sure if my motor is a goer, or if there is some other wiring issues leading to roof not working.

Hi, it was several years ago that I visited Durham Dave so it’s probably not £80 anymore. I’m sure he’s still great value though

Hi, I'll see how more skin and swearing it takes, but perhaps a trip to Durham will be the best option....
