Rough idle

Post by Brads67 » Wed Mar 11, 2020 9:55 am

Folks

The Z4 sits for a while in between uses. A couple of time when I've fired it up it has a super rough idle, once it also took a few attempts to start.

Once running it simply clears and is fine.
Are there any know causes for this, a common fault maybe ?

Cheers all.

If not that then leave it a few days to sit, then whip the plugs out and see if there's a wet one.

Low battery possibly, try measuring the voltage after it’s been sitting for a while :?

Please state what engine you have! If it’s the M54 it could be a split in the intake hose like this...

A point I am keeping in mind for wifey's M54, just in case.
However, would the OPs idle clear itself if it were this?
I was surmising an issue that cured itself as things warmed up?

It's the 2.2
I've had the split hose thing before, it's not that. It clears once running for a minute or even less.
Battery is a good shout as it has a habit of going flat just now. Could just be a low voltage.
Will check all these when the chance allows.

Thanks for the ideas again.

In that case you have to start by changing the battery and eliminate it if nothing else.
