I’ve noticed over the few years that I have owned the zed that it does have a bit of a ‘water retention’ problem.
i.e. if you don’t stay on top of it then drain channels become blocked leading to all manner of problems.
Fortunately, my roof motor was as dry as a bone when Durham Dave relocated it for me but I have subsequently had to unblock those roof drains on occasion.
I also had to replace the passenger side door membrane and repair the driver side membrane as they were the cause of my sopping wet carpets if I’d been driving in the rain.
The last one has got me a bit stumped however; I’m getting a shedload of condensation in the cabin after a drive in the damp/wet. The carpets are dry (fortunately) and after a poke around in the enginebay I discovered that the padding just forward of the firewall is absolutely sodden at the bottom on the passenger side.
The scuttle drain seems ok, no blockages, as I can inch a flexible draincleaner wire almost up to the scuttle from the opening inside the enginebay. So I’m left to conclude that it might be because I don’t have an undertray and that water is coming in through the bottom of the engine bay perhaps,
Or is this a false conclusion?
Are there any other theories on how that black padding can be so wet?
