Sat nav stuck in French!

Post by lsteph0 » Tue Sep 03, 2019 11:46 pm

Has anyone had a problem like this before?

The cities, seas and tourist information is all in French! The speaking voice is still in English. We have bought and installed the 2019 BMW sat nav discs but this hasn’t made any difference.
We have of course made sure the language is set to English. One thing we seem to be missing is the option to select our country, which according to the instructions should be an option that we can select. BMW were confused and suggested that I need to get her car plugged into their diagnostic machine but obviously this is at additional cost so I was hoping someone on here might have an idea how we can fix this rather unusual problem.

I have tried putting in all my previous discs to see if this would solve the problem but no such luck.

Thanks,
Lucy

are you getting the green satellite symbol on the top corner of the screen, if not then possibly your GPS aerial is faulty.

Current discs are BMW previous one was hookey. I don’t think I have a diagnostic or INPA cable, where can I get one? It’s British by the way :) and I do get the GPS symbol up so that should be working.

What were you doing to it when it became stuck? Ie. did you install the new maps and was it then it became stuck, when did I last work properly? Why did you decide to install new maps?

It hasn’t worked properly for a while, since before we had the latest version of the maps. I installed the latest maps just to keep them up to date.

Ok - but what did you do to make it freeze into France?
It didn’t just do it by itself

Had you been looking for a French location, installing new software etc etc
