2E85 Water pump code

Post by jamie_z4 » Thu Jul 18, 2019 5:31 am

Hi guys, Ive done a scan on my car using C110 and the only code that repeatedly shows up is the 2E85 code- The car has covered 120k so im aware the pump could be on borrowed time, however looking around the majority of codes thrown before a pump imploding are 2E82 and E84, Not just 2E85 on its own, which im led to belive is a communication error where operation at emergency level could not be perfomed, however, the car performs without fault, temp needle is always bang in the middle and there is a healthy stream of coolant flowing through the hole in the header tank neck,

any ideas? I get married in about 7 weeks so after shelling out for a Clutch & DMF on my daily, i could do with this lasting a few more weeks at least

cheers

Jamie

2E85 is a communication error with the pump - but that is usually related to how they eventually fail (electronics inside). I'd be ordering a new pump if I were you. £200 and not difficult to change assuming you know which end of a screwdriver to hold. The electronic thermostats seem very reliable so if money is tight I would stick to just the pump.
