Ash tray 12v socket ???

Should the ashtray 12v socket always be live??? I would prefer it to go off with the ignition, is there a quick fix to do this?

Mines live which is perfect for sticking the battery optimiser on , as not an everyday car.

Yes, I'm pretty sure they are always live on the E85/86s.

I suppose you might be able to move the connection on the back of the fuse-box to a circuit that does go off if it's that big an issue.

For me it's useful being live, my dash cam is plugged in it so motion detection recording works, saves me the hassle of hard wiring and means I can use the cam in my other cars if needed.

Actually I don't think they do any more - my 06 plate E91 and 55 plate E90 ones aren't live when the ignition is off. :?

I had to put the key in to use a compressor for my tyres! (First world problem I know).
