Between now and the day you get your new bonnet switch, you can just disconnect the bonnet switch electrical connector and then lock your car via the fob :)

I've had this before and it turned out to be a coin battery I'd left in the centre console section (just under the handbrake). I'd recently swapped out the cell for my Parrot system.

Apparently the same is said for any loose change you may have?

Had the same problem - took a couple of attempts of removing the bonnet switch & blasting with wd40 to solve it.

My interior contains precisely nothing. I can't stand having crap laying around inside a car

Sounds like a good bet. I removed my current bonnet switch this morning (I ended up destroying it to try and remove it from the metal bracket) and have ordered a new one from BMW direct on ebay. £38.65

I didn't fancy buying a used one as I could end up with the same issue again, which I definitely do not want

Cheap as chips if it sorts the problems, could have been worse with the price of some parts
