Is this Spring ok?

Bought a couple of front suplex springs 06248 and the bottom coil is flattened on both springs.

Is this how they are meant to be? The packaging wasn't damaged and they are both the same so guessing it is normal.

Yes. They sit like that on the strut. Very odd, must be a German thing :lol:

The smaller diameter part is not as strong in spring terms so it compresses easily to absorb the small imperfections in the road, once this is compressed the main diameter of the spring is then engaged and provides the main duties of the suspension.

The question was about the "flattened" section of the spring as shown in the photo :thumbsup:

The flattened bit will be so it sits better on the holder more surface area contact.
