e85 airbag warning, INPA

Post by psychonaut » Mon Nov 12, 2018 5:59 pm

hi guys hope you are well.

i bought a b-cable to use INPA to read and clear faults.

my airbag light has been on since a garage fixed my window. shudda gone back to them but its been ages now...

so i bought a cable and have it set up.

i got 3 errors on the safety system center. 2 of them are cleared and gone, but the light remains.

the following error that keeps coming back...

Image

my missus is swiss and is fluent in german, she says that it translates as the following:

Systemtime Issue raised at 4531.14 hrs
System time issue ended at 4531.14 hrs

No matching issue symptom
Test criteria met
Issue currently existing and has been saved
Issue will not cause a warning light

not sure where else to look on inpa to clear or find issue.

any ideas please?

i think i have reset all the error codes on the car. the only one that came back is the one that says it wont cause a warning lamp...but the airbag light is still on

Ive been through this palava too. My light is back on after a garage cleared all fault codes and lights.
Think my airbag control unit is shagged.
Multiple codes in carly.

so im searching around and various things have come up:

1) unplug and replug the seat connectors.
2) the airbag can go off if you do 1)

anybody know if this is true?!

Not sure about it deploying, maybe due to voltage spike. But either way this will def give you a warning light if your battery is still connected.

Always disconnect battery if you're going to disconnect any airbag cables and make sure theyre reconnected when you hook the battery back up.

I have read somewhere that the airbag light can be induced by someone kneeling on the seats causing a concentration of weight directly onto the weight detection mat.
This may be what had happened to initially cause the issue?
Just a thought. :D

For the sake of £8 I'd try a bypass module

hi guys, thanks for your input.

i ordered this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01 ... UTF8&psc=1
£20

and have just changed it over, cleared the error with my b cable and bingo! no more air bag light.

fyi, its easy to get at, picture attached. move the passenger seat fully to the back of the car, lift it up to maximum. get at it from the front.

ahh. ok, so no more airbag light, but now it thinks the seat is permanently occupied. so if you dont have the seatbelt plugged in, then it complains.

anyone know if this is an mot failure?
EDIT: its not an MOT failure...just phoned local garage

any ideas to get round this one please??

i'm surprised there isn't a dongle with a switch with 3 modes...

unoccupied
child occupied
adult occupied

it must just be different resistances. anybody seen one of those?
