Hi,
The boot gas struts worn out and need replacing. I've looked on https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=41_1696 to get the part number: 51243420572
However I've bought 3 from eBay and they are too small
It looks like they keep sending the ones for the roadster instead of the coupe! The pair I've got now say 51 24 3 420 572 on them but they are way too small ~30cm! I've rung my dealership but they are £55.63 each so would prefer to find some better value ones if possible.
Does anybody know where I can buy e86 boot gas struts?
Thanks for the help.
Tom

I literally just ordered 2 from here, I called them up to order as there are 3 separate ones, cost for a pair was £45.34 delivered

Those ones I ordered arrived yesterday and look to be the correct length although I have yet to fit them, very quick delivery and they look to be of good quality! 2 for less than 1 from a stealer as well!

I'd rather replace the pair but thanks all the same.
Mine arrived today and they are 575mm long so it looks promising. Thank you for the link!Flyingfifer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 17, 2018 11:41 amThose ones I ordered arrived yesterday and look to be the correct length although I have yet to fit them, very quick delivery and they look to be of good quality! 2 for less than 1 from a stealer as well!

Let was know how you both get on with fitting these - I'm pretty sure my hatch would benefit from some new struts!

It was very easy to fit and they work great however it's not completely resolved the issue for me. It's improved the boot opening, i.e. I don't have to use a lot of force to lift the boot anymore but it's still creaking and not as smooth as it should be. I think I need to add some grease to the hinges.rally-chris wrote: ↑Wed Oct 17, 2018 3:48 pm Let was know how you both get on with fitting these - I'm pretty sure my hatch would benefit from some new struts!
