Hey!!!! 2005 2.5i BMW z4 ..........my brakes and rotors are UGLY RUSTY, not bad, but aaaaaack !


Any you guy do what??? Remove the tires and sandblast them and clear coat the rotor "heads" (??) ....no the working rotor ITSELF, just its base

its just cosmetically UGLY...... any suggestions???? :driving:

Not had this issue myself but I’m not sure you need to remove the tyres

Wheels off, wire brush rust off, degrease, mask off and paint with suitable paint

If I were you I would buy some new discs and paint thei centre part with zinc primer.

Oh that's not a pretty sight. As above you can take the wheels off wire brush the heavy stuff off. Then genolite or similar, wipe that off and paint, primer then colour. Be sure to use heat resistant paint plenty available for engine blocks and calipers etc.

Wire brush any loose rust off ,wipe down with a petrol soaked cloth to remove any grease and apply Hammerite Smooth in the colour of your choice. No primer, one coat and no rust. It copes absolutely fine with brake heat also

I paint the center of my discs in Hammerite silver, not had any rust and it seems to bake on nicely.
