Fault codes. Translation needed.

Post by Chris_D » Sat Aug 25, 2018 6:16 pm

Did a quick diagnostics using Carly today as I hadn't done one in a while.
Have about 6/7 recurring codes. Nothing serious and mostly false-positives.
However, a couple of new ones appeared today and wondering if anyone could shed some light....

Engine / Motor
Fault Code: 0027C3
Fault Explanation: thermal Oelniveausensor

Instrument cluster / Kombiinstrument
Fault Code: 000020
Fault Explanation: :Ignition (KL.15) on but ignition (KL.R) off / air bag
Fault Code: 000011
Fault Explanation: :Tank sensor 2 short circuit to ground or battery
voltage / TOG / Oelstandssensor defective / Acoustic transducer No

Car drives fine. no CEL.
Only weirdness is that in cold weather the temp gauge shows low after having run engine for normal period before it should show normal operating temp. It's currently showing normal operating temp (needle straight up and smack bang in the middle of the gauge) in this warmer weather, even on cooler mornings.

Engine/Motor code is a concern. Is that an oil level sensor?
Had to top up with a litre today. Hoping it's just the low oil even though I didnt get the oil light on the dash....

Any ideas?

There's a (hopefully) full list of codes at http://realitypod.com/2012/06/08/bmw-co ... -and-more/

It says 27C3 is 'Oil Level Sensor'

Yep thx perry lar. Managed to deduce that but after having a scadge around the interwebs it seems that the code can be generated by a litany of interrelated issues.

Might just clear the code to see if it comes back. BAnking on that I was low on oil that might have thrown the code in the first place. If it comes back then i have an issue to sort....

Hi mate, looks like I'll be swapping in a new oil level/thermal sensor when i deduce the part number and refit method. Hope this should cure the issue.
Airbag light i cant help u with but i'd suggest check the airbag module using pukka diagnostic software, INPA/DIS etc.
Many here have good experience with bcables. Com

Good luck and i'll post up results of fitting new sensor here in due course...
