Water Problems!

Post by chrisgreen » Tue Jul 31, 2018 12:15 pm

Hi All,

Found alot of water under the carpet behind the drivers seat - it's dry on top but the underneath acts like a sponge and it's soaking.

I've replaced the new door membrane and sealed properly using butyl tape (and also tested and it's fine). I've also pulled out the drivers seat out and the trim which holds the carpet in place and it's definitely not coming in through the door as the carpet around the door entry is bone dry.

Any ideas? I've done a quick search and someone mentioned the roof drains? Is this a possible cause?

the passenger side where the motor is located is fine and water runs clean through - the drivers side seems to run through(ish) but not as fast as the passenger side?

Is there anything else it could be? i cleaned out the drains once a few months ago using a metal skewer but seems like i might need something a bit longer!

I heard that underneath the windscreen scuttle you can get a build up of leaves etc which will in due course block the water outlets and then it can overflow into the car. Turns out its not that easy a job due to the plastic clips etc on the scuttle cover. Had some build up in mine but not enough to cause any issues. Now awaiting some plastic clips to put it all back.

you have a soundgenerator ? check the rubber from the soundgenerator under the hood i had same problem. . . . the front window drain is above the pipe that go inside your car, , , the water leaks behind the rubber underneath your carpet

if you got water on top of your carpet you have to fix your door foam seal inside the door

Pretty certain you need to clear out driver side roof drain.
Had exactly the same issue. Cleared the drain from top and bottom using a flexible drain wire and carpets have been bone dry ever since.

Hi all- thread revival!

Still got water coming behind the drivers seat - its definitely not the door membrane as ive replaced and checked for leaks several times. Ive also cleared the rear drain holes and all running clear. Any ideas?! It looks as though its underneath the carpet as the top is never wet but underneath is soaking! Its only right at the very back of the cabin - underneath the seat is bone dry!

Help!

have you verified rear/roof drain holes are clear by pouring water through?

My problem persists. With my car parked uphill (Nose up) the section next to the parcel tray on the right hand side fills with water and eventually drains into the trunk. I live in a hilly area so parking in a flat area is not an option. Attached is a picture of where the water seems to be entering the car. Where do I look to find the entry point?
