Gap tech in hot weather

Post by Tomsdad » Mon Jul 16, 2018 9:54 pm

Anyone had problems with the gaptech roof opener in this really hot weather?
After sitting in the sun all day it doesn't work. But later in the evening it will work again.
Don't know if it's a faulty unit or the hot weather.

Kind regards

Is it soldered connections or the scotch lock if the latter just change to soldered, not impossible for it to be faulty unit, but start with the connections

Sounds like a faulty unit if all connections are good
Get in touch with them - I hear they are pretty good at replacing faulty units, even if they are out of the warranty period

I have exactly the same problem. Middle of the hot day it's flaky, but when it cools down it's back to normal again

Gaptech came back to me. Agreed that the unit was 4 months old and under warranty. They wanted me to send the item back for them to test.
I said that I was concerned that as the problem was intermittent they may not see the fault. Also that as it was soldered in it was not a quick job to take out.
Anyway what we agreed was that I would purchase a new unit and when I return the old one they will refund me.
