Fuel quantity control valve location.

Post by Z4 Gaz » Fri Jul 13, 2018 9:54 pm

Been getting a fault code related to this, anyone know where on the car it is located and if it is an easy enough part to swap?

I am going to say it will be a ballache!

From TIS: 16 12 000
Removing and installing/replacing the
sensor for the fuel level gauge (right)

Note:
In the E85 only the right sensor for fuel level indication can be
replaced. If the left sensor is faulty, the fuel tank must be
replaced.
Sensors for fuel level indication, electric fuel pump and right
suction jet pump together form a single unit and can only be
replaced as such.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
 Draw off fuel from fuel tank.
 Remove fuel filter.

Remove electric fuel pump.

That sounds like it is for fuel level and pump.
I think the control valve is somewhere after the tank and is electrically operated to regulate the in line pressure.
Done 180 miles to the ferry today without it throwing a code, with another 280 once off to get home.
Maybe it has fixed itself, but having had to reset it about 5 times over the last week of the road trip i am not holding out much hope.

That was all that was obvious on TIS, but I'll have another look.

Scanned the car this morning and the code was the other one I am getting, Tank vent valve, activation.
Tested it with a multi meter and it seems to be ok. So guessing they are both related, but not entirely sure why.
