"Mirror mirror on the floor"

Post by Courageous » Tue Jul 10, 2018 10:48 pm

Wing mirror glass fell out of the housing when I was driving the other day. Glad the wire connectors held tight! Any idea how it is supposed to fit back in? I see it has a rotating bezel behind it, tried twisting the glass into place but no joy........

Needs gluing back in. Some else will be along to suggest what type of glue - its a common issue.

Oh? Just made the effort to google it Marlon and see that rotating bezel is meant to hold it in. Does it need glue to overcome a frailty in that method of retention? Should have maybe googled before posting but I like direct comms.

Is it just the glass? If so it’s a common problem and is best solved by using glue (I used gorilla extra strong) and clamps over night. They only put a blob of glue on in the factory and the mirrors are always heated so it dries out.

If you mean the clip has come off with the glass then there are several write ups on here if you do a search. Can help with that one as I haven’t had mine off

Thanks guys, the whole glass including the rotating bezel mechanism has come off - looks to me like place back on and rotate bezel. Gonna give it a go.

That's about it  sadly my wing mirror glass fell off while driving on a motorway few weeks back I tried to save it but the wind got hold and it hit me then the side of the car  popped on a new complete glass plus backing and while doing so I thought I will check passenger side only to find that the twist mechanism was just holding it on needed pushing back to full lock :o guess it moves over time with all the bumps in the road will keep an eye from now on.
