Brake/Traction warning lights issue.

Post by Stu23 » Sun Jul 01, 2018 5:07 pm

Hi All

We've got an issue with the z4... this little lot all came on at once. It doesn't seem to have affected the drive at all, but I'm not pushing to find out what's systems are not working!

Any ideas?

The same thing happened today with mine.
Same lights on but without the "low tyre pressure".

Owners manual tells you what the combo of lights mean; unfortunately if the ABS light also lit it usually means the unit is dead/dying. Do the warnings go away after you restart the car? Mine has thrown those codes before (minus the ABS light) however they go away with a restart. They haven't reappeared in several weeks (touch wood).

Very rarely does it go away. Mine did once or twice but ended up permanent. Even after leaving the battery off for 2 weeks.

Google ecutesting. £190 and they'll repair it and warrant it for life. You can use the car when turn it around but you'll have no Speedo. Quite quick though. About 4/5 days. Or ask Mike, he can do the repair too.

Normally if you get the tyre pressure warning light on it relates to a wheel speed sensor so am a bit surprised at the ABS unit fault. Not sure why the tyre pressure warning system wouldn’t work with an ABS fault.

Brake/Traction warning lights issue.

HI All. Thanks for all the replies.

Car is an 04 3.0i auto... sorry don't know what engine that would be.

Lights stay on permenantly, even after disconnecting the battery and shorting the leads together.

Appreciate the offer to help, but I'm in Wiltshire, so a long way from Ducklakeview.

What ABS unit is it? I assume just an electronic control box, not hydraulic, if I can drive around without it :)

Yes you can - BUT no ABS and no traction control... And probably no insurance cover in the event of a smash if they find out..

Oh, and MOT fail.
