hole in the air intake system
Hi Guys,
How bad is this?
Can someone help find the part numbers for this and tell me how to get it replaced?
It's a plastic pipe that is near the lower side of the DISA valve.
I just noticed a hole in it today morning while inspecting the engine.

Common problem. Chuck some tape around it for now. Or get a replacement from BMW.
Easy enough to change. Just remove the airbox and pipes and it's just a few jubilee clips to remove and replace it.

Ok. Thanks.
What is the name of this part? What do I search when finding the replacement part?

Mine was whistling, I did a temporary job with Aluminium tape when I did my DISA replacement kit over a year ago. And I've never changed it. Temporary has worked better than new.

Mine has been whistling for over a month now. I get so irritated when I accelerate and it whistles. I was thinking it was some problem with pulleys or something. I step on the gas, it easily goes to 2000 rpm. From 2000 and 3000, it wouldn't move for a while even if I press the gas. And then all of a sudden it jumps to 3000 rpm. This has been happening for sometime now. I was thinking about taking it to BMW center to find what was happening. Will tape it out right away and see if the whistling goes off.
Thanks man.

Replacing the part completely is a real quick and simple job too.

I agree Andy, just my temp repair has lasted a long time. Rather spend money n something else lol.
Or wait until the main intake splits, which they do.

I did a temp tape up repair on mine about 3 years ago now and it’s still fine.
I know they’re not expensive but I’m from an age were we made do and mend

Replaced it today; around 90 minutes job. Tightening of some of the screws is tricky.
Also, checked the DISA valve.- Russ59
