roof motor relocation

Post by bluepain » Sun Jun 10, 2018 3:51 pm

Hi guys im following the step by step guide to relocation of roof motor, ive encountered a hitch allready, I cant seem to get the parcel shelf out of the boot there's a 2 inch puece of canvas attaching it to the boot area that it just slides on,
Have I missed something. .
Ive enclosed a picture for what im talking about.
By the way I can see the motor housing ..just cant get to it yet. :x

The canvas is only attached at the top. The bottom of the lip of canvas just hangs. If you lift it and push it forwards it'll sit on top of the shelf out of the way. Perhaps the lower edge is just trapped somewhere?

I remember that well, lying in the boot legs in the air and arms up and over head and down that drainage channel. Don't envy you doing it today in this heat, it was much cooler when i did mine

I am no expert. I have only done my own but my lower casing was cable tied to the side. I had to snip the tie and then it slid out.
One of the many forum motor relocators could probably explain an easier or better way of doing it.

Feels like thats whats holding mine it won't come loose.
Did you just go in through the boot or did you remove the passenger speaker cover and back plate .
Ive given up for today..
I can feel the swimming pool inside the mount.
Definitely drowned
Any pointers welcome.

I went through the boot and used some long cable snips to cut the tie. Was done all by feel. I think the experts lever it out until it snaps and gives way but i dont have the tech skills to repair it if it went wrong, hence snipping the tie.
I dont know if you can access via the speaker or not.
