Bright the car over to York yesterday, was happily cruising down the A1M when all the instruments faded for a split second then came back on again.
There was no drop in performance and the car has never missed a beat, has anyone else experienced this at all!! :!:

Is this something to do with one of the Z4 recalls in progress at the moment? One relates to sudden loss of electrical power.

Had this once on mine for a split second all the digital display "disappeared" then came back. It was literally a second. No idea why. But interested to find out.

Just a glitch with the light sensor, nothing to worry about. It’s a tiny hole by the headlight switch, if you put you’re finger over it it’ll do the same thing.

Applies to the OP not the post above, that sounds like something else electrical related. Shouldn’t actually turn off anything, just the lights fade out for a second or two...

Did anything actually cut out on yours on just all the lights / displays fade for a second?

@andybeech. Nothing cut out no change just the digital display went, but literally a split second. Was around 2/3 months back. Nothing before or since.
Forgot to add that it was on the roadster, 2003 3.0i.

Ah ok might be something different but equally I doubt anything to worry about. That did happen to my old 3.0si once as did the light dimming thing a few times but yeah just odd little quirks, shouldn’t cause any problems.

Indeed correct. As others have said, it’s to do with the lights sensors. Think they get a little confused sometimes.

Nothing to worry about though.

Interesting to hear so many cars had the same issue, there was a moment of panic, especially 2 weeks before France.

Mine did this in the weeks leading up to needing a new battery. It’s not happened since.
