Hi all ever since thinking and talking about replacing the Zed with a newer one it has cost me money first I needed two new tyres and tracking due to nearly bald inner tyres and now it makes a metal on metal single knock when I brake to a full stop I get the noise then when I pull away it happens again I suspect control arm bushings even though they were done along with new control arms in February ! Can only think as my journey is town driving every morning and night over countless speed bumps they have given up already, does anyone have any alternative to what the noise could be before I spend yet more money.
Thanks,
Matt

Drop links may also do this. Worth checking the wheel bolts too and the front strut brace. The lower metal undertray can give a knock if not properly tightened.
Tyres are a consumable, don't think of them as a sunk cost. Alignment is an ongoing, like MOT.

I have checked the springs tonight I took the wheels off and checked everything I could get my hands on and everything seems solid no movement and can only recreate the noise when driving feel like this issue is going to go on and on before I find the fix

Is it front or back? Does it do it if you coast to a stop or with the clutch depressed?

It’s coming from the front as I brake and the motion of stop it makes this clicking metal on metal sound, it happens clutch in or out also happens as I go over a speed bump as I get to it and start to go up the speed bump the noise happens again.

You won't get anything pulling them, you need to try and nip them up, torque is something like 130 + 60 degrees, don't have it to hand.
Is it a deep thud or more tinny?

It’s not a deep sound more like a clicking sound almost like the sound a torque wrench makes when it’s at the correct torque but obviously it’s louder.

Got xenon? If so maybe your headlight adjuster broken off the bottom arm? Mine did this and was hitting it as the suspension flexed.

Get a torque wrench on them. If it’s happening with speed bumps and as you stop it sounds like the flex of the car could be making them slip ever so slightly making a loud click. They are often loose so worth checking as it will take around a minute.

If it isn’t the braces then I’d get a helper and slowly jack the car up and down on each side jack point. If it is flex related you’ll find it.

I’ll have to check the tightness on the suspension at the weekend to make double sure.
