Roof stains
Had some pretty stubborn algae stains on my roof which I could not shift, then read on a thread buried away on this site that Milton fluid would work. £1.20 and little bit of elbow grease and the roof looks ten times better. Still some faint traces but overall not bad for a first (weaken solution) wash. Just posting in case anybody else is having issues with roof stains.

Any pics befire / after ?
The roof of the ZM I collected last week was in truly shocking condition I've had one previously that wasn't great but this way out by far the worst I've seen .
Stuck with my usual routine & it's looking 100% better & over time I will improve it even more

I must say the Milton trick has worked great on both the Z4&Z3. They need another going over but "WOW" best thing I've used.
Great info in here.

Top pic is pretty much how mine looked and it is 75% better with one wash. Will give it another go in the morning. Sorry, should have posted a before and after but was more concerned in getting it done whilst I had a spare 5 minutes.mr wilks wrote: ↑Fri May 11, 2018 7:26 pm Any pics befire / after ?

Yes, amazed with mine so far. Best £1.20 I've spent in ages.

I've always used the Autoglym Convertible Soft Top Clean & Protect kit but the Milton method also works well. Just don't get it on the glass as it's worse than tree sap.
Recently started using a Vikan brush. It's like a giant nail brush. Hoover, rinse, cleaner, rinse, clean, rinse, proofing.
Have found that cleaning the roof twice left it with better results. Take the roof down halfway to get under the rubber at the back and remove the green.

I’v also got this task to do, I bloody hate cleaning the roof.
I have the Autoglym cleaning and proofing kit and the Milton sterilising solution.
When I’v done cleaning and ready for proofing, I’v got a bottle of black liquid shoe polish to mix with the final stuff.
Someone on here recommended adding the shoe polish but can’t remember who.

Some good tips here guys, thanks. I tried the Renovo cleaner, colourer and reproofing kit last year and wasn't particularly impressed with the results after the 4 days work I put in to it! I was hoping for better to be honest . The Milton and shoe polish seems fun! What do I mix the shoe polish with, the proofer?

I’ll try to find the original topic.
