Wow, you must have given it a good whack!

That's what you get for yanking your knob in a confined space!

It's a long wait 'til the 25th - I hope they do a proper job of fitting the new screen.

I managed to block the knob/fist combo with my nose when I swapped mine over. Thought I had been a pillock at the time (black eye, bleeding nose) but now feel it was worth the pain at these sort of excess costs. but now :D

Yes, it looks like it could have been worse!

Strange, because mine came off really easily. :o

BTW I like your taste in Z4s - mine now has a ZHP, but has gone back to a whippy (so I can use the radio)!

Bad luck there, but you'll get a nice shiny new one now, and if yours is stone chipped anywhere near as bad as mine was, you'll actually be able to see on a sunny day now! Just make sure you request a genuine one when you speak to your insurance/the windscreen company they put you through to, or you'll get a pattern one.
Nothing wrong with a pattern part windscreen.

Had mine replaced yesterday. It's a solarshield. Does the same job and looks the same too

Admiral was £75.
Admiral have put it up to £95 now. Got a shock when they said  seems cheap compared to Marlon's :o A new Windscreen fitted privately won't cost much more than that.

As mentioned above get the OEM rubber surround it’s about £30 and makes all the difference.
Non OEM glass will be fine though

Last quote, I promise

I've had 4 windscreens fitted in 6 years of Z4 ownership (same car). The first 2 seals were rubbish quality, but this newest one seems to be a lot better.

The top corners basically break apart because they're too tight a fit. The OEM seal must be slightly wider.

The glass and seal will be guaranteed anyway, so if you aren't happy, they can replace the seal if need be, after the job is done. It just pulls away from the screen. They tell you the screen needs to be removed, but it doesn't.

Not a perfect start to the weekend Colin. But at least your new knob is safe and secure.
