Battery replacement
I need to replace my battery. I am probably going to stick with BMW OEM but I understand that the computer needs to be reset. Is this something that anyone can do! Thanks

Nothing needs to be reset on the E85 / E86 (apart from your clock and perhaps your windows). Be a bit mad to pay bmw prices for a battery. I’d recommend this... https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2976350130

That's a good price compared to the likes of Eurocarparts! Varta and Bosche are the same company, same factories under VB Autobatterie of Germany - same batteries. ECP have the Bosch S5 version available for £124 after the current discount.ph001 wrote: ↑Wed May 09, 2018 6:48 am Nothing needs to be reset on the E85 / E86 (apart from your clock and perhaps your windows). To reset the windows sit in car with key at pos 1 with window power available and doors shut,
lower the window fully and keep the button down for 5 seconds, immediately raise to the top, release the button and open the door.
Then repeat with the other window. The windows should now drop slightly when opening the door and rise fully after shutting.
2003 2.5 SE, low miles, Sterling Grey, 108's & Eagles, no stubby here! Unmolested.

Battery replacement
Had my battery replaced about a year ago and once the new one was fitted certain functions didn't work. Mainly those which drain battery power - Air conditioning, heated rear screen, etc. Had to have the software reset at a BMW dealer, £50 for the priveledge.

It sounds like your car went into transit mode.Rosscuthill wrote: ↑Wed May 09, 2018 8:59 pm Had my battery replaced about a year ago and once the new one was fitted certain functions didn't work. The original supplying dealer is supposed to remove it, but many seem to just turn it off.
Shame you didn't contact one of the members who can do coding.
