Think I’ve broken my zed

Post by andystone » Sat Apr 14, 2018 6:36 pm

Evening all! Replaced my rtab’s Today, went for the test drive (as it’s the law!) and very quickly discovered I now have no brakes! Quick scan shows pressure sensor error. Can anyone shed some light on this? How do I fix it, from what I’ve read it’s located on the brake line?!?!

No pressure sensor problem is going to result in no brakes!!! Are you sure you haven’t fractured a brake line whilst doing the rtab? Any fluid leaks anywhere?

The sensors by the way are on the abs/dsc unit.

I need to have another look to be fair. Was thinking about braided hoses all round.

Definitely have a brake fluid leak, reservoir about half empty and wetness notes on the inside of my rear wheel. New stainless lines ordered!

Agree. Got to be a leak. Get under the car and you should see fluid if you've depressed the pedal. Quite a lot would have came out and ran along the car. Depending on the speed you were doing when you found the pedal to the floor.
Glad your still alive by the way. Always a bonus with brake failure.

The pressure sensors are on the master brake cylinder, not the abs/dsc unit:

#2 (there are 2 of them).
If you have no brakes and a pressure sensor warning, my guess you either have a leak, or a lot of air.

But I have a suspicion that we dont hear the complete story. Where's that steering angle error coming from, and you have a brake level sensor error.

Thanks all. The steering angle fault has been present since I bought the car two years ago and brake level fault since half the fluid has leaked following my rtab replacement

Actually it depends on the car. Pre facelift cars have them screwed into the master cylinder:

Ah, apologies - was thinking of my E46 M3. Does the N52 not have them at all then?
