Another victim of the roof fault. Motor is still running but gave off a screaming noise before roof fails to open or close.

I'm hoping that I can contact Bowser and he'll be able to help rescue this one also.

That sounds like busted house if the motor is still running. There are a few of us repairing these, so would help if you add your location? Replacing the hose is a 30 min job.

Thanks Mike. I'm located in Reading, Berkshire (South East)

My thinking is that it's either the housing or the hose has corroded and split. Appreciating anyone who has expertise in this as I'm sure it's going to be easier and quicker than figuring this out myself.

Thank you

I went and had my roof motor replaced and relocated to the boot by Bowser who did a really nice job. Unfortunately, my roof has stopped working again so could it be the Hydraulic bypass valve? It did the same thing it did before. Motor was working fine and had it up and down 15-20 times since Bowser changed the motor and then suddenly the motor makes a whining noise and seems to lose power which is pretty much what it did before. Fortunately, I managed to get in the roof closed position this time.

Not sure if it is related but just about where the passengers left ear would be there is a small tear in the roof lining and the rubber there looks like it has been rubbing on something but doesn't seem to actually hit anything when the roof goes up and down.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Also, when it went before I pulled the red disconnect lever in the boot and I still couldn't get the roof up so something was stopping it then. I've emailed Ross to see if he has any ideas but thought would ask on here too.

Thanks

Ross is your best bet as he will know exactly what condition everything was in.
Usually whenever the 'motor specialists' on from the Forum have the motor out and accessible, they lubricate everything, so I wouldn't have thought the bypass valve would be stuck again after Ross has serviced it. Worse scenario is that you may have a corroded hydraulic lead and the pressure is lost. Looking at the motor in the boot, is there still plenty of fluid in the reservoir ?

Already had a chat with Geoff and he sent me a pic of the reservoir and a video of the fault. Looks like it is a corroded hose Alan :(

Will hopefully get an upgraded, stronger hose fitted to sort it.
