My mechanic tells me my wiper motor is shot. BMW OEM replacement part is $550. Has anyone ever replaced theirs with aftermarket or used a rebuilt one? What brand and where did you buy it? How did it perform? Thanks

What are your symptoms?
If it is slow or noisy movement then your pivot points on the linkage may just need dismantling and regreasing.
If it is that the motor is not parking in the correct position it may just be excess grease affecting the park switch inside the motor.
If the linkage has become disconnected due to wear in the ball joints then you can buy pressed steel clips on eBay to keeep them attached.
Unless the electrical part of the wiper motor is totally dead then it is unlikely that it actually requires total replacement.

As above and if the motor is toast, I would look at 2nd hand at a fraction of what your mechanic has quoted you.

I ended up buying a remanufactured motor from Cardone. Hasn't arrived yet. Wait $126 with shipping.

So after receiving the wrong rebuilt wiper motor, then sending it back along with my motor to be rebuilt I eventually got what I wanted. My mechanic installed it and it is working like new! I highly recommend Cardone rebuilt motors but you may want to just send yours in to be rebuilt to ensure no mistakes are made. Definitely a big savings over new.

Ok, after almost a month and a LOT of rain, the rebuilt wiper motor is still working great! Very happy with my decision to buy rebuilt and save $450 over new OEM.
