Z4 - Indicator interior "noise" intermiddent
Hey guys,
Looking at sorting out some issues with my zed, and the "clicking" (for lack of a better term) that you can hear in the cockpit has become intermittent, I was thinking its the relay, but when the noise isn't working, the indicator (as in the lights) still function properly... Any ideas?
Thanks!

I think the sounder is in the instrument cluster. If it is then you'd have to find it and see if you can replace the component.
Other option is to replace the cluster but it will need coding.
Might be worth disconnecting the plug and giving it a clean, if the bulbs are working then the LCM and indicator switch should be fine.

The bad news I have been told is its built into the speedo and a replacement is over £800 plus it will then need programming to the car I have the same problem so have learnt to live with it if I have the roof down or a CD playing cannot here it anyway.
Don't know if there are companies that can sort it if you find any let me know.

Surely a set of used instruments would only be a fraction of that price? You’d have to be off your trolley to pay £800 for a winker ticker (is that right?)GAZA62 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 3:44 pm The bad news I have been told is its built into the speedo and a replacement is over £800 plus it will then need programming to the car I have the same problem so have learnt to live with it if I have the roof down or a CD playing cannot here it anyway.

That was my thought Rob but my mate who looks after my car said that all speedos are coded to that car when built and when you try to install one from a breakers it will not work I think it was a big red F is all that shows its to stop clocking but there are loads of clusters on flea bay could just be BMW trying to make even more money from jo public as they do.Smartbear wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 6:51 pmSurely a set of used instruments would only be a fraction of that price? Seems to agree here: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticl ... cement.htm
Key part: "If you decide to replace the instrument cluster with a new one, you will need to have it coded and programmed using an advanced BMW scan tool"

You CAN replace just the sounder in your existing cluster, they are only a few ££ and soldered into place.

No, because I've not done one yet, just noticed the sounder when I had my cluster apart to remove the annoying dust!london001 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 6:08 pmThanks Mike, got a recommended source?Ducklakeview wrote: ↑Thu Mar 08, 2018 11:48 am You CAN replace just the sounder in your existing cluster, they are only a few ££ and soldered into place.
Mike
I'd be desoldering it and looking for numbers before googling or checking cpcfarnell...
