2.0l oil change

Post by bluepain » Sun Feb 18, 2018 2:18 pm

looking to do an oil change on my 2.0 l,
I was wondering whether it gas to be the long life stuff, seeing as I change my oil yearly or can it be the same viscosity and spec, but not long life.
im aware the 2.0 l is sensitive to oil being clean ,more so than the larger engines.
thoughts would be welcome.
cheers :D

Done loads.
Just use a good quality oil. I use MPM brand from Minorfern - BMW spec.
No issues at all.

Andy.

Oil preference is usually very subjective. The only way to really tell is to drop it out and then have it analysed after an interval, the results will only really be valid for that specific engine and driver combination.

I think it's fair to say you can't go far wrong with anything that meets the spec, so could use that as a starting point and go from there.

You only need the LL04 if you are sticking to the "extended" changes. Otherwise any good synthetic will do. Personally I use Petronas.

I think the LL04 spec oil has higher detergent qualities than normal as it was originally designed to keep Diesel engines clean

Rob, it does, but it's also designed for "extended drain intervals"
