Stereo goes pop..pop..kaput!

Post by Chris_D » Thu Jan 11, 2018 1:28 pm

Oh dear....no more drum n bass for a while until this is sorted!

The stereo decided to stop working yesterday. I'd been experiencing a popping noise coming from either the speakers behind the seats or from somewhere in the boot cavity.

Pressed the 'mode' button on the dash to bring up the satnav screen to choose the radio/cd and nadda...not a sausage.

The 'menu' button still works to bring up the screen and the satnav and computer functions are still working perfectly, just not the radio/cd functions.

Its the fancy multispeaker variant with the amp next to the battery.

Any ideas what i start checking for? Fuses, wiring etc?

Almost certainly will be the amp (may have caused the fuse feeding it to blow) . Sometimes get moisture in them and the corrosion kills them.

Nice one ta.
Useful thread.
Might have a scadge around the amp myself and see if I can get hold of an inverter.
