Brake pedal switch

Post by Scooba_Steve » Sun Dec 24, 2017 1:29 pm

Bit of a random one.

I consider myself to be king of the light breakers on the road. Having used brake light reflections in cars behind i think that i am getting braking effort before the brake lights come on.

Less than ideal, so has anyone adjusted the switch position, if it is even possible?

Are you sure it’s a mechanical switch & not a pressure activated one? The brake lights vary in intensity according to the brake force deployed which makes me think it’s not a traditional switch :?

Brake pedal switch

I think it's either a hall sensor or a pressure activated switch, I've noticed the same with mine. Just in cinema so will look later.

Brake pedal switch

Surprisingly, it's switches on both the brake and clutch (clutch to disengage cruise) doesn't look like they or the bracket are adjustable though, other than bending the bracket?

Brake pedal switch

Looks like the switches are a twist and lock for into the bracket. I'd elongate the two mounting holes to give a bit of adjustment, or, if the brake pedal rod is threaded, perhaps shorten it a couple of turns?

The switch itself sits in a ratchet mechanism. Fiddly to adjust but leaves a fair amount of range. I had this problem too, spent my first month with only brake lights when I tried to stand it on it’s nose...

Yeah, there are extra sections of the taillights which illuminate when significant force is applied.

Not 100% but I think the brake force illumination element only comes into effect when the abs is activated. Can't check on mine as have coded brake light donuts instead.

BFD is activated by either ABS or deceleration or both. Two options for decel sensor but i have no idea which ones they are.
I can always send you my BFD dump Mike, have the third brake flashing, vid on YouTube.

My current LCZ trace filtered on BFD options, sorry for the formatting. This gives flashing third brake light on BFD with no fogs coming on as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YK-bnDBhnc

I have yet to try it with the fogs on to ensure it works, not sure exactly what is meant by "BFD with inner tail lights/rear fogs", i.e. does that mean using them or activating with them on.
