Dodgy oil sensor?

Post by JimBob78 » Sat Dec 23, 2017 1:08 pm

Hi all
Had my yellow oil light come on the other day with the +1ltr message so went to buy some oil but checked oil level again on way home and it showed 3 squares... It's since been mostly showing 1 square ok for the last week with the occasional 3 squares but never shown +1ltr since... So the question is, is it faulty or should I add a litre?
Cheers

Hi, if it flashed the add 1litre message I really wouldn’t like to ignore it as a little to much will be less catastrophic than to little :o

Except I'd not want to be overfilling if it was playing up.

Did the OP park on level ground? If it's a bit low then that could tip the warning.

I can't promise that it's not faulty but it does have a self test, the only way to really know is to drop the oil and refill.

Dodgy oil sensor?

It had been parked on a slight slope so maybe it's borderline? Don't understand why it would randomly show 3 squares though?
Would it throw up an error code if faulty?
