Anyone know if a standard electric steering Column off an 05 z4 will fit an 06 z4m?

Z4M is hydraulic, you wouldn't want to go electric

Ok, it’s just a customer been to mine asking me to replace the electric column on his z4m as a garage had told him it was faulty? Are the people at the garage imbeciles?

Unless it’s not a real Z4M.

If it’s an ///M it will have a 3.2 S54 engine, probably just a “sport” model though which some refer to as “m sport” although such a model never existed in E85/6 guise.

Exactly, even if the facelift Sport models did have a smattering of "M" badges they aren't M-Sport models.

And Z4Ms only ever had hydraulic PAS.

But what you've said suggests the 2006 model is a facelift and a 2005 will be pre-facelift, so it would be worth checking whether all the parts are the same.

Does the car actually need a new column, or might a rebuilt PAS motor fix it? If so these people might be able to help:- https://www.ecutesting.com/product-cata ... -steering/

If you've lost pas, the EPS light is on the dashboard and no sports button function, it's likely to be the ECU on the motor
If it is, you can remove the motor, without taking the column out. Then send it to the place in the link that Mr Tidy put up.

Are you sure you're up to the job when you're asking whether a z4 steering column fits a z4m? :?

I had an idea the Z4m didn’t have the eps but customer was told by his local garage that the eps column was the problem. The car came to me today and turned out to be a knocking (suspension) which wasn’t anything to do with the column. Problem solved.

To be fair they had a capital S - my first 2 Coupes were both Sport models!
