2003 3.0i, yellow brake light, DSC, and tire pressure lamps on

Post by FLZ4 » Sat Jul 31, 2021 8:27 pm

Hey all, new to forums. Trying to figure out this issue I have currently.

I came out of work one day as normal went to start car, every light in vehicle surged then no power anywhere. I went in the back checked the battery terminals and after taking off and re installing I started the car drove home but these 3 lights popped. I figured the battery was dying so I replaced it but the lights are still on. It has been about 4 weeks since then. 2 days ago my AC stopped blowing cold and it seems the compressor isn’t coming on. Is this electrical related as well? Please advise, car still drives fine despite me sweating my arse off. I also want to mention we did get some heavy rain so maybe a sensor or line got wet as I was driving it? I don’t know man, my Toyota wasn’t this finicky.

Also my roof hinges went out 2 days after buying the car in may :headbang: I bought the hinges and lines to relocate to boot but that’s another job for another day.

I also downloaded INPA and have the cable on its way from Amazon tomorrow so I can get into the computer.

Welcome to the forum, even if not in ideal circumstances.

The battery in my current one died earlier this year and I fired it up using a jumper pack, then I got the same 3 yellow lights.

After fitting a new battery I took it to my BMW Indy who ran diagnostics on it, reset the steering angle sensor and the lights went out. :D

Hopefully getting yours sorted won't be too involved.

Similar lights on my 2003 2.5 but only yellow handbrake and Traction Control light, Creator 310+ code reader on it came up with No 1 Brake Pressure Sensor. Viewed it in live data whilst applying foot brake, both No1 and No2 sensors located on the side of the brake master cylinder showed both as working with pressure changes when brake applied. Also noted that the DSC control button was inhibited as was the DSC light in the dash. Put a new sensor in at No1 one at the front which set the code, Cleared code and made a test drive, code did not return also DSC button restored to working as was DSC light in dash.
Best of luck finding what codes have been set, hopefully it will point you in the right direction to fix it, could be pressure sensors like mine or maybe wheel speed sensors, any of those faulting would bring on the brake and Traction control lights.

I have INPA set up and I ordered the K/DCAN cable online so once it gets in I will reset the lights and angle sensor which some others in my FB Group pointed out. More to come tomorrow when I get the cable

Update so I am receiving an error message saying that the steering angle sensor is not responding to inpa and all the other sensors in the system are unresponsive as well
