Exhaust blowing at engine end

Post by noiseboy72 » Wed Jan 16, 2019 11:11 pm

So...
After my car got run into last week (see other thread), the bloody exhaust is blowing now!

It sounds like its somewhere close under the bulkhead and is sometimes louder than other times.

Any clues as to what it might be? I am hoping it will get me to Birmingham and back tomorrow, so that I can get it fixed at the weekend, but with my run of luck at the moment... :headbang:

The bolts on the exhaust flanges at the bottom of the down pipes are notorious for corroding and disintegrating. They are low down under the bulkhead as you describe. :(

Thanks, I am also getting a P114D error code, so does that suggest the problem is post cat?

P114D BMW - Post Catalyst Fuel Trim Via Oxygen Sensor System Too Lean

if its the bolts you are going to have a mother of a job, my local garage spent 3 hours trying to drill though mine and had to use oxy aceteline to burn them out..

I don't think I will even attempt it. It's due a service, so I'll add it to the list.
