Scotchlok connectors - this is a UK link but you must be able to get them from all car accessory stores, think there are different sizes for different wire thicknesses too.kal wrote:where can i get these connectors i couldn't find them, i looked every where, what do they call them ?!

Re: 03~05 FULL circle Brake light BRIEF
As pointed out earlier in the thread, the second part of the light comes on when the ABS is engaged. This is so that the guy following really close behind you knows to brace against the steering wheel and turn his head for when his airbag deploys when he/she hits you.gajah wrote:waittttttttt, how about the inner part lights? i mean, there are 2 lights for your tail lights, 1 is in the outer side and 1 is in the inner side.

From the Manual:
Normal braking:
Brake lamp 1 (outer edge of circle) lights up on both sides of the vehicle together with the center brake lamp
> Forceful braking and braking with ABS:
Brake lamps 1 and 2 (outer and inner halves of circle) light up on both vehicle sides together with the center brake lamp.

From the looks of it you need to join them together with a scotchlok connectorAlbertoxx wrote:Sorry guys,I read the whole thread but I still don't understand if I need to cut the 1st and 4th wire to join 'em toghether

Re: 03~05 FULL circle Brake light BRIEF
Can't believe I missed this post until someone pointed it out to me.
Decided to do it this afternoon, so thanks to BlackSapphireZ for the original post
On pulling the light cover off I did not like the idea of a couple of Scotchlocs, preferring a physical join rather than mechanical so decided to make a simple bridge.
Removing the white cover from the plug the inner pins can be released, slid out and then a wire loop soldered to each. The pins are then refitted, plastic cover put on and job done. Reversal could be done by unsoldering or simply cutting the loop off at the pins.
I think it looks a lot better
Connector with cover removed
Pins pulled out ready to loop
Looped soldered in, pins refitted and locking cover back on
One done for comparison

Re: 03~05 FULL circle Brake light BRIEF
Stupid question, but can the brake switch take the loading of adding another 2 bulbs ?
Also is it only upto 04 cars that don't have the ABS 2nd brake light additional warning ?

Re: 03~05 FULL circle Brake light BRIEF
Actually since its a bus system the brake switch will just be an electronic signal generator so no current involved there. Secondly as it is intended to light in certain circumstances then the wiring will take the extra.ianreeves wrote:Stupid question, but can the brake switch take the loading of adding another 2 bulbs ?

No probs so far, nor on a fellow board member Zed who did it some time ago
Can't comment on the 2004 onward question
