If you push up, it will lock the vent even more!
OK - you're right - down! Been a while since I did it - but I took the pictures at the time for just this sort of discussion!
Glad it worked out!

An extra pair of hands would make this *so* much easier... I experienced a huge feeling of relief when this was all done, it's quite frustrating for such a "simple" task...
My wife provided the extra pair of hands!

OK, so it seems so straight forward, but i'm having a nightmare with removing the vents!

I've now poked out on of the vertical fins and marked the aluminium :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Are you ment to be able to see the clips because i've tried shining a tourch and still can't see them....or feel them with the screwdriver. All i can see the hole as per the photos, but no clip.

If you get the vents at the right angle, you should be able to see the metal clips with the aid of a torch. Persevere!

I removed the metal clips once I had the vent out. The vents stays in fine without them. It will make the removal of the vent much easier next time!

Done it!!! just went back out to have another go with......paper clips!

Still couldn't see the clips for whatever reason but managed to 'fish' the clips down with a bent paper clip then insert a screwdriver to pull the clips right down.

Once those clips are far enough down that they're visable through the vent it came out (with a bit of a tug) easy!

Thanks for all the help on this thread.

If the metal clps have been removed it would be fairly simple to just pull the vet out using the middle setion. I can do this now as mine doesnt quite go back since changing to CFL trim, although you wouldnt know.

Use the picture on the first page to gauge where the clips are located, you will only see them from the first gap at the top, otherwise the slats will get in the way.

Oh - and I levered it out by using a stiff credit card from the side, say start on the left - that should lever it by about a cm or so.

So Mr PVR

You did this first? or after you got the clips out ?

I think of just going somewhere and getting it done..But they'd probably mark the vents or somthing? I think many ICE stores will know how to remove the vents on a z4 any better than me

Assuming you have the clips, you press them down first then use the credit card to lever the vent out.

If you don't have clips, it will just come out with the CC so worth the try. If you do have the clips, look into the opening shown above with a torch and look for the clip to pull down.

ICE stores will NOT have experience in getting the vent out and will cause more damage then you would ...
