Mainly want it for logging to get to the bottom of my engine injector issues. Then it’s playtime because frankly why not.
No problem. have you tried ISTA or INPA? Probably better for logging/diagnostics.

They will work with the same cable https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-BMW-INPA ... SwrIlaw9iZ

Very highly rated on other BMW forums, especially 3 series related. It's only for N54's/N55's though.

Now I'm running the golf tee mod and these options;
The cold start noise reduction works better than I expected. Very happy :)

That looks interesting. Can anyone point me to the two cables they state are required? (eBay?)
This is the main cable you need. Some have a small switch on top, but you shouldn't need it for the Z4. It bridges pins 8 & 9, making it work with older BMW's.

This is the second cable

The app come in two parts. The flasher module (main app) is £89 which allows you to flash a stock map and fiddle with the options you can see in the screenshot.

Then there are additional Stage 1, 1+, 2, 2+ maps available at about £50.
That cable seems cheap. Plus it states for cars up to 2008? There are others up to £40 or more, there’s conflicting thoughts online about the cheap cables bricking ECUs...

Any idea how this affects warranty?

+1 although mine is now the extended BMW warranty with AWP Assistance/Allianz.

Had a look at the MHD site but confused as to whether it uses your own stock map to revert back too, or one of their own? The reason I ask is it lists the 35is but shows the stock map as 306hp when it's 340?
Next Z landed ..... Z3 3.0i Sport Roadster

It can do both.

You can perform a backup, which can be restored at any time. Or flash the MHD 'Stock' map.

Would almost certainly void it if they found out. You could always restore the backup if you need to make a warranty claim though.

In my experience they're identical. I have a £50 cable and a £10 cable. Internals are the same.

The website has links to approved cables. go for one of these if you're unsure. http://mhdtuning.com/support/

Cables and INPA arrived. Will take a look tomorrow but want to be careful as INPA and inexperience seem to make for a bad combo.

If you have trouble installing inpa, try googling bimmergeeks. They sell the cables and have inpa, ista etc. for download.

I've installed it a couple of times on a Windows 10 laptop and never had any trouble.

Some guides tell you to install an XP virtual machine, but it's not necessary.
