I think it's just a comment from the MOT tester. Most cars these days have undertrays and covers fitted by the manufacturers maybe for streamlining purpose, not sure. I guess the tester is just commenting that they can't see components due to the covers and they don't dismantle them for the purpose of the test. Almost all the cars that I looked at before I bought mine had this comment in the MOT test history.Scirl wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 3:27 pmthanks - this was the one then ... the fact that "engine covers and undertrays fitted obscuring some components" - is that done on purpose to prevent seeing some fault?
Saw that on Auto trader and got all excited, but realised they wrongly categorised it as a manualmr wilks wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2019 3:14 pm Lovely 2012 low mile (25k ) twin turbo in red with navspec & heated black leather / £16950 ask seems reasonable for whats on offer

Seems like prices are higher in US, in UK a 30i with about 20K miles go for around 16K GBP from a BMW dealership and around 13 to 14K GBP at private sale. I bought mine back in May at auction it's a 2009 30i with 32k miles the trade book value was around 9300 GBP (Caps clean) I was expecting to pay 10K GBP but ending up paying a lot more, some trade buyer on the internet kept pushing the price up! But I had to have it since I couldn't afford to keep coming from Spain to UK to look at cars.scootr wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2019 5:58 pm In the US the market seems to be softening. I shopped and purchased a E89 this past month. I shopped nationally. There are lots of E85-86 with high mileage under $10k. Many E89 with auto and mileage near or over 100k under $15k. Mileage makes a big difference in value. Well equipped E89s with less than 60k are bringing $18-22k on average. And rare cars with 3.0 engine with less than 30K miles are asking $30 and up although they are not selling fast. I nearly pulled the trigger (debit card aimed and cocked) for $30k on a 2012 3.0 with just 19k miles but, I came to my senses about owning another black car in the dusty SW US. It is a drive it/ wash it/ drive it/ wash it syndrome unending
Manual transmissions are harder to find. And finding one without high miles is nearly impossible. My understanding is that these cars are so fun to drive that every manual 3.0 has has lots and lots of enjoyment.
I chose a 2010 3.0i manual with 60k miles and gave $17k for it with a clean BMW inspection. This from a dealer. You may do better from a private party but we are very happy with the car we got. Love the metallic gray
