Coolant pump, thermostat & labour on 105k-mile 35iS.

Would normally have used independent, but car was recovered to AD.

Yeh - that's not the most expensive quote I have seen for this job.

I guess you gotta suck it up, and at 105k it was probably due.

Complicated car, with complicated parts, lots of things coming due after 10+ years of wear... I would expect this to be an expensive next 5 years for the life of a 35i(s) TBH.

Thanks. Your first comment makes me feel a bit better.
In my 85k ownership of the car, BMW Insured Warranty's taken care of it. Now, over 100k, the cover's less, of course, so I have more to pay.
Still, you get nowt for nowt and it's a very good car that I enjoy a lot.
Tyres next and wheel refurbishing and ... Mmm ... what's that seeping from the front adaptive suspension?

Wow, that was painful. :o

I thought my £800 bill for a new water pump on my E86 in 2015 was expensive!

Buster should tip in Pringles. So good, it's a crime.

Likewise, I did mine about a month ago and its a long job just becuase of their location. So much stuff just to remove before you can actually get to them.

Someone posted a "how to" on changing the water pump and thermostat a while ago. Having followed it I would recommend a read if your going to do it yourself. Worth while considering how much you would save in labour alone.
