Does anyone know what this part is?
I have been scouring real oem, but have had no joy.
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partse ... &q=Battery
I am looking for the part name or number of the negative terminal cover.
I have attached an image of one (circled in blue)
Does the part have a number on it?
Thanks again!

Mine doesn't have one, it's bare. It also looks like it never had one TBH.
Are you sure it's not only specified for other markets?

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Pondrew I think you do have it.... just the plastic cover is missing? Is that the original battery in the car?

Yes mine has the cover missing but I thought that was what DSSB what after?
I'm presuming it is a replacement battery and the terminal cover was broken or lost when replaced.

It looks as though this, together with the IBS, is a component part of the negative battery cable package (61129249103).
If so, your best bet is probably a breakers yard.

Ok, mystery solved.
There are lots of these on ebay, it’s not a specific E89 part… looking by eye, and reliant on German standardised manufacturing!
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-1-SERIES ... 635-2958-0
Sometimes it’s about the terminology used to search, so thanks Conrod for the suggestion.
For anyone who hasnt got one, take a look at the ebay link, or search for similar items.
I do have the sensor, but no plastic surround, I managed to source one for £9
I will post a picture if it fits!

Well done finding it. I don't want to seem difficult and am genuinely interested why you want one, though, when it serves no useful purpose whatsoever. The negative terminal on a DC battery is an earth terminal. The other end of the neg terminal cable is bolted to the floor of the metal boot (without any protection) about 10" away, so I am at a loss as to why the plastic shroud on the terminal is there TBH .Deepseaskateboard wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 8:27 pm For anyone who hasnt got one, take a look at the ebay link, or search for similar items.

It’s to safeguard against anything shorting between the positive/negative terminals to avoid a “Chernobyl” type catastrophePondrew wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 9:39 pmWell done finding it.
