I bought some cheap exhaust tips for £18 from Amazon 2.5 years ago while I had the originals polished. This is what they look like now, like new with a bit of metal polish.

Looking good.

Soon after I bought my current Z4 I took the tips off so it would be easier to polish them, then discovered the tail-pipes were stainless.

I thought they looked much better without tips so I polished the tail-pipes instead!

No brillo pad I save that for the alloys  but I did have a rummage in the kitchen and found the bottle of stainless steel cleaner. The original tips I got back from the polishers are away in a box for another day.

It must be a Norfolk thing, Martin. My 'car' has two massive tips which are perfectly in line, thank you

Do these just come straight off with a tap from behind with a rubber mallet? Mine are filthy and too close to the bumper for me to want to go near with a brillo!

Exactly what I was just about to ask. Unless someone can recommend a spray on type product or similar that will remove all the s**t easily?

they should do.. mine only needed a bit of a tap at the back.. kind of awkward to get to but easy enough to get off once you get a bit of clearance
if its got tits or tyres..its trouble :D

Once you've removed them don't throw them away, these are my old tips, I had them polished

I've got similar tips from Amazon too. Really liked the difference it made to the rear end.

Don't want to appear stupid but I'm sure others may be asking the same question but once you get them off and polished, Do they just slide back on or are they bolted or something?
