I think I remember reading that when British Telecom changed their vans from yellow to grey their insurance went up a huge amount

So according to those articles, I am more likely to crash (although haven't had one in years) but my car is more likely to sell quickly. :D

They say yellow will sit around a lot longer but you are more likely to get more money back although the results are a bit skewed because typically these colours are on exotics cars, is the E89 an exotic?

I had a liquid yellow Mini Cooper a while back and didn't pay any more for it for being yellow in fact I got it at a bit of bargain price and didn't get anymore for it when it came to sale time, in fact the prospective buyer almost never bought it because he was keener on a red one but mine had more toys which eventually secured the sale!

Then there was the yellow Golf mk4 I am sure I would have gotten a quicker sale and more money had it been a different colour!

Same thing with bikes. In 2001 I paid extra for a GSXR750 in yellow and black, instead of the more common blue and white colour scheme. When I came to sell it a few years later I was told I'd have got £500 more if it was blue and white.

In deed! A yellow E89 is an exotic one, even here in Germany.

Neighbour has just bought a yellow BMW GS1200 on my advice …

He’ll be safe as houses…

On a semi serious note you do notice white / bright coloured cars much more easily ..especially at dusk / in the rain when you are about to overtake with them coming the opposite way.. :driving:

You'd have thought so.

But both my dailys seem to attract muppetry regularly. In the last three weeks, nearly two head-on collisions at speed, and today someone went to pull out in front of me (I'm doing 30mph) but saw me at the last minute and jumped on their brakes.

Clearly (!) my GTC and Z4 are invisible, being bright yellow!

Whilst tested in the 1980's I am aware that the NSW Police trialled yellow Police Vehicles to see if they stood out more (just paint not reflective decals etc) and it was a fail, so returned to white. At the same time road markings were tested and the previous yellow double lines etc were replaced with white because the yellow didn't stand out as much as white, especially in wet and dark conditions. Some colours that you think will stand out just don't. Ever had trouble finding a red golf tee on the grass, its not as easy as it sounds.
